Carter's Secret

You walk into the church, but the priest appears to be missing. You then notice that the right-side door appears to be unlocked! You walk through the door and find Carter talking to himself among the trees behind the church. He muddles about not having a lot of money, but even he receives some luxuries. This isn't for kids anyway!

Carter becomes spooked when you unexpectingly show up behind him. He remembers that he had left the door unlocked; he was so excited that he had forgotten. He tries to explain that he's back behind the church to do some cleaning, but you're not fooled. Carter breaks down and admits that he sneaks back here to collect mushrooms. The fungus grow in this little forest during the fall, so he comes back here to feast on them. As he doesn't have any money, this season is the only time he can enjoy such luxuries. Carter doesn't want anyone else to have his tasty snacks, so he keeps it a secret.

Carter asks that you keep this secret between the two of you.

Choice 1: Yes (+20 FP)

Carter thanks you for understanding.

Choice 2: No (-10 FP)

He understand; this isn't something he should be hiding.

From now on he'll leave the door unlocked. You're free to come back here at any time.

The forest behind the church has a variety of wild items that you can collect throughout the year. Fall season is when you can easily forage the rare Matsutake mushroom. The other location where this fungus appears is behind the boulders by Mother's Lake that require a Silver (level 3) or higher hammer to break.

Since the church backlot is an outdoor area, time passes while you are exploring among the trees. Carter locks the front church door at 10:00 pm, but the backdoor will remain unlocked so you can leave. If you walk back into the church after that time, you'll see a short dialog about steaking through the church quietly because Carter is asleep.
