Magic Flower will randomly turn into either Blue Magic Red Flower (common) or True Magic Red Flower (rare). The blue variety will grow wild during the fall season, but the red variety must come from growing the flower on your farm. The Nature Sprites do not influence the appearance of red flowers, as there is only a 5% chance of the red variety appearing. To force some red flowers, save your game before planting Blue Magic Flower seeds in your field, plant some seeds, and then open the farm map. The icons representing the newly-planted seeds on your field will display as Blue Magic Red Flower or True Magic Red Flower. If all the icons are blue flowers, reload your save game, plant the seeds again, and check the map. Repeat until you're comfortable with the number of red icons on your map that will mature into True Magic Red Flower.

This flower seed unlock in Jeff's store inventory after you see the Preserved Flower event as part of the requirements to get married. After you see the event with Basil and Jeff about the flower, walk into the Secret Forest during fall to see a short scene with Cherry the Nature Sprite. He will tell you that the Sunsweet Flower might grow wild in the park during fall.
