The FOXBox promo kit obtained from a Toys R Us store, August 27, 2002 I had a problem finding the FOXBox. The Toys R Us store by my home had never heard of the FOXBox promotion and neither did the manger on duty. The one I called across town had never heard of it either. The third one I called had heard of the FOXBox. She explained that there was an email sent out on the 20th from the TRU home office explaining what the promo boxes where, but didn't state when they were suppose to give them out to the public. She had a stack of boxes in the back room so she reserved one for me to go pick up that day. She wasn't sure what she was suppose to do with the rest of them. The FOXBox contains a video, cd rom, stickers, TMNT mini-comic, and coupons. There are drawing on the inside and outside of the box showing the new FOX cartoon line up for Fall 2002. Inside the closing flap shows the time when the shows will appear. The video tape is about 18 minutes long with a Kynex toy commercial about half way though. On the tape are previews of Ultimate Muscle, TMNT, Kirby, Ultraman, Stargate, and Fighting Foodons (in that order IIRC). The TMNT preview is the same one that's put on the cd rom while the Stargate preview is even shorter then the TMNT one. Most of the tape is for the other 4 shows. I took a photo of the box next to a Michaelangelo toy for size comparison reasons (img: photo-foxbox.jpg). MeowJin Boo decided that I was paying too much attention to the cardboard box instead of him (img: no_boo_dont_eat_mikey.jpg). The stickers show a character from all 6 shows (img: photo-stickers.jpg) The mini TMNT comic appears to be based on the first few pages of the TMNT #1 comic back from 1984. The boys are trapped against a wall ready to battle the Purple Dragon Gang. The comic is obviously drawn by Michael Dooney so it's not a sneak peak as to what the new Turtles are going to look like. Unless the new cartoon is based on Dooney's drawings. That I don't mind. (img: photo-minicomic1.jpg = comic laid out front) (img: photo-minicomic2.jpg = comic laid out back) (img: photo-minicomicp1.jpg through photo-minicomicp9.jpg = closeup of the comic panels) The cd rom had a "cube" navigation layout; you click the arrows up, down, left, right and the cube rotates with a subject on each side's face. In the area with the TMNT show summary the boys are just black outlined shapes and you can never see what they really look like. There's character descriptions for Leonardo, Michaelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael, but no other characters. There are page that you can print out and color of the new FOX shows. Even a Turtle one, but it's all just a bunch of outlines (img: FoxBox_TMNT_line.jpg) There is wallpaper you can put on your desktop (file: tmntwallpaper-bitmap.rar). The bitmap files come in 1024x768 or 800x600 resolution. There is also a FOXBox screen saver you can install for Windows OS only that shows all 6 cartoons one at a time. In the Turtle section is the new opening theme song (file: opening-theme-song.mp3) The movie on the cd is the same one that appears on the preview video. The movie is in .mov format (file: tmnt-movie.mov) and .mpg format. There's no pictures other then the black outline on the movie, but there is a scene with 4 real turtles next to a canister of ooze that is labeled T.C.R.I (Techno-Cosmic Research Institute for those who don't know; the aliens who's ooze mutated the Turtles in the origional black and white comic). The last item I could find on the cd was a promo shot of the Turtles in their black body forms (img: FoxBox_TMNT-811.jpg)
