Don't worry...I'll just drip feed everyone more and more tidbits to help you along the story. PLEASE DROP ME A LINE!! I need to know what you guys out there want, and how I can improve this fanfic. Compliments are taken, but complaints are more happily accepted. The title of this chapter seems repetitive, but it plays a cool role in the story. Another "RPG-ish" fanfic is cool...right? *** Chapter Four A: Yet Another Problem *** Nirlake...what a rural town. Freedom was lavishly decorated, but this place was THE traditional american town. Elle: Well, we're here. Where do we go to find Will? Perel: YOU IDIOTS! WILL DOESN'T HANG AROUND NEAR NIRLAKE ANYMORE! AFTER HE MADE THE AIRPLANE, HE WENT BACK TO KIDSGART IN FREEDOM! Elle: Awww crap... *** Chapter Four: The Drake of Despair *** Elle: Okay...where is Kidsgart? Perel ran across the paved road toward the back of the city border. As they turned a corner, a house neared up in front of them. Perel: Whoa...Long time no see... He went up to the house and knocked on the door. After a few rumbling sounds inside, a little girl opened the door. Girl: Perel!! She opened the door more, and children could be seen inside. Will came out of the back door. Perel: Will! Will came up and shook his hand...then gave out a short laugh. Will: I heard of how you helped in Beruga. Good Job Perel! Perel: Well...it was nothing..... Kumari?: You must be Will. I am- Will: Lord Kumari of Lhasa. Ark told me about you. But let's not talk out here. Come in everyone! They came in and closed the door. Meilin and Perel were off playing with the other children. Will brought up some chairs to a table. Will: Have a seat. Elle and Kumari sat down. Will: I wish that we can sit back and relax, but I doubt that all four of you came here just to relax? Yomi: FIVE! Yomi didn't appear...a voice just surged through the room. Elle: (SHUT UP YOMI...) Kumari?: Actually, you're right. I'm guessing you've seen the changes that are going on in the world right now? Will: Yes...it doesn't look quite like what Ark ressurected. Kumari?: Do you know what Ark went out to do on his quest? Will: Destroy the Dark Gaia. It's destroyed now right? Kumari?: Unfortunately, yes. You see, when the Dark Gaia was destroyed, the Light Gaia will follow also. Will: Ah, the disturbance in the balance. So you wish to revive the Dark Gaia, right? Elle: Wow. You caught on quicker than me. Will: So what's the problem? Kumari?: We need to use your gliders. Will: Oh. You want to go through the hole? Elle: How the heck do you know all this? Will: I'm really perceptive. As much as I want to help, I can't. My prototype gliders were sacked when the kids thrashed it up. Kumari?: Oh my. Can you make more? Will: I suppose. But I'm lacking materials. Kumari sighed... Will: Tell you what-if you can get me the materials, then I'll make you one that you can use. Elle: Well...what kind of materials do you need? Will: That's another problem. You see, the material I use resists against air when it floats down. The problem is that it was a piece of shedded skin from a strange looking drake... Elle: Ugh...I had my fill of drakes... Will: Unless you can wait a few months for another shed of skin, you have to kill it. That'll give me enough skin to make hundreds of gliders... Elle: That's cruel! Will: No it isn't. The drake killed so many people in Liotto that it was nicknamed the Drake of Despair. Elle: Oh. Then let's kill the bastard! Will: I like your sense of humor, but seriously, the monster is extremely dangerous. Kumari?: Where is it located? Will: Go to Liotto, and a big hole should be in the town center. Elle: What? Don't people live there? Will: They've all been slaughtered in despicable ways. So...is it a deal? Elle: Of course! If we don't get these skins, we won't live long enough to see them grow up... Elle looked at the children. Perel and Meilin were making funny faces and the children laughed. So sad... Elle: Let's go Elder. Meilin: C'mon Perel. Let's go- Elle: No. Stay here for now. Perel: But- Elle: Don't argue. I won't like telling the children of your death if something like that happened to you... Meilin: But! Elle: You too. Humor Perel or something. Let's go Kumari. Elle and Kumari walked out the door. Meilin blushed. Meilin: Humor Perel? What the F- Perel: SSSHHH! Don't say it... *** Elle: Going along okay Elder? Kumari?: I'm fine. Don't mind me. Fine? I'm horrified! Elle: According to the directions Will gave us, Liotto should be right up ahead... They could only see a blur of gray buildings. But as they got closer... Elle: Oh my god... The scene was horrifying. Men were hacked down against the walls, and women were impaled while grabbing their horrified, yet dead children. Kumari?: It seems that no one was left alived... Elle: There's the hole... A huge cavern was dug in the center square. Elle: Let's go in- * CRACK... * Elle: ... Elle heard that right behind her...She silently moved along a wall. The source of the sound was right around the corner... Elle: sshh... Elle was right near the corner. Then she sprang up, grabbing the spear, and was about the dive down on the target...WAIT! ????: Sh*t! Elle flipped to cut her dive short. She rolled on the floor and landed next to... Elle: Fyda...It's been a long time... Fyda squinted her eyes. Fyda: ...Princess Elle...? A spark of light was seen in the next corner. Elle: Who is... Fyda: Royd! Come out! It's okay. Royd, in his tattered clothes and injured head, came out of the side corner. Royd: The princess? Royd looked at Elle, gripping the Hero Spear, in a deadly battle stance...so familiar... Royd: For a second there...you reminded me of Ark... Elle: Please...don't talk about Ark...what happened to you guys? Kumari cam around the corner. Fyda: When Meilin, Perel, Royd and I went to stop Beruga, we went on Beruga's ship. We destroyed the computers, and the ship was falling down. As a last desperate measure, we sent Ark of the ship on a gull. The ship eventually crashed. We woke up near the mountains toward the west. Royd: We traveled here. You should probably know what happened here... We're the only ones to survive the onslaught. Fyda: That damn drake... Elle: Let's go into the hole... Fyda: Hahaha...you're the princess. As I recall, you never had any battle training...in fact, I can only think of one person that has chance against the drake... Elle: Let me guess...Ark? Fyda: Precisely. Kumari?: Well, it all fits together. Royd: What? Kumari?: Yomi should know...Come out Yomi... A buzz of light appeared, then Yomi materialized. Yomi: Hello. Fyda looked at this strange spectacle. Yomi: You see, Elle is the heroine. She's a direct inheritance of Ark. So she can do anything Ark can. And maybe even better. Fyda: ...the heroine? Elle: We're not doing anything productive standing around. Let's go into the hole. Elle walked toward the center square. Soon, everyone followed. *** Yomi: This is a huge cavern! Elle: Let's keep moving. They walked into a thin corrider. Strangely, it widened as they walked more. Royd: How long is this corri-AHH! A huge swirl of dust exploded from one side of the corrider. It engulfed Royd and blasted through the other side. The side that was blasted through caved in seconds after. Fyda: ROYYYDDD!! Elle: What the hell happened? Kumari?: Hmmm. It seems the drake popped through one side and took Royd. Fyda: What the hell are you guys doing! Let's go! All three rounded around a curve in the corrider, as they ran deeper into the depths of the earth. Soon after, they reared up to a huge cavern that was dug at the end of the corrider. The drake was found lying at the endside of the cavern. The drake-or was it? It had strange features...more like a humongous snake with legs and two claws...and Royd was found lying beside him, bleeding through his head. Fyda: ROYD! The drake turned toward the sound. Yomi: It knows we're here... Elle: NO, YOU THINK, YOMI? The drake growled and kicked Royd at the party with its small legs. Fyda kneeled to treat Royd. Royd: Ugh... Fyda: Royd...don't die on me... All of a sudden, the drake opened its hideous mouth, and shot a wave of energy at Fyda. Fyda jumped out of the way hauling Royd along with her. The beam hit the opposite wall and cut through its interior. Fyda: You...monster... Fyda unsheathed her sword, and held it in a battle stance. Fyda: I'll kill you! As Fyda ran toward the monster, Royd whispered. Royd: No....Fyda...don't...it's useless... Fyda jumped and waved her sword in an arc, then brought the deadly blade down. The drake acted quick, and caught the sword with one of its claws. It broke it instantly. Fyda: No... The drake roared and flashed its claws. Claws...the material... It connected with Fyda's body and she flew across the cavern. She was stopped as she landed on the side wall. Her head was dazed, then Fyda was knocked unconscious. Elle: Its claw....that's what we need! But at the end of those words, the drake reared back for another blast of energy. The wave flew out of its mouth, and headed straight toward Elle. Yomi: ELLE! But, the wave never reached her. Royd jumped foward, and was caught inside the wave. It sliced Royd's shoulder, but didn't go through, as Royd blocked the entire wave. He landed in Elle's arms. Royd: Ugh....take care of Fyda... Royd looked up. Royd: Ark...I'll see you soon... Mist clouded over Royd's eyes, as blood dripped on Elle's hands. Elle: No... Royd fell to the floor, as he slid out of Elle's hands. Elle looked at her hands. Elle: Blood... Covered in blood...So much blood... Seconds seem to slow down like minutes, minutes slowed to hours. *Heartbeat* *** ???: ... *** *Heartbeat* *** ???: ... *** *Heartbeat* *** ???: ... *** *Heartbeat* *** ???: Elle... *** All thoughts and memories dissapeared, as it seemed that Elle's mind broke down. *** ???: Hahahaha... *** Elle looked up from her hands. Yomi: Those eyes... The drake charged foward, and thrust its claw toward Elle. Elle's took the spear, and rose it directly in the middle of her body. *CLANG* Waves of energy spread as the claw connected with the spear. The claw seemed to pulse, and in a matter of seconds, it was sliced up into four different sections. The drake roared a cry of pain. Elle slowly turned the spear with the flat end first, and thrust it against the drake. More energy appeared, and the drake flew back against the opposite wall. It landed with a huge crash. Kumari?: Haha... Yomi: Oh my...How did his claw get sliced? Kumari?: She must've sliced it at an extremely fast speed, maybe when the claw was millimeters away from her spear. Elle ran with blinding speed toward the drake and switched the sides of the spear again...sharp end first. Elle: TERRA STUN! She swung the spear upward. A white flash...The drake was paralyzed. Elle jumped back a couple hops. She rose her spear above her head, and twirled it slowly. The sharp end was in the direction of where Elle was facing. Elle: TERRRRRRAAAAAAA WAAAAAAAVE!! She thrust the spear down and stabbed the cave floor. Energy pulsed out in huge, round, circular waves originating from the epicenter. The ground started the crack, and it suddenly broke open in a matter of seconds. The cave floor split apart, as it kept splitting in a line towards the drake. Another hole opened, and it swallowed the drake in the hole. Elle: ... Elle's emotions, memories, and knowledge all cracked back into place. Elle: What...? Yomi: AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! This place is going to cave in! Let's go! Elle: What? Fyda.... Elle left Royd, and picked up Fyda from the side wall. She then yelled at Kumari. Elle: ELDER! What are you doing? Help me! It seemed like he came back from a frozen trance. Kumari?: Huh? Oh...yes... Kumari ran to pick up the sliced pieces of the drake's claw. Yomi zapped out. Elle and Kumari were running out of the cave. Elle looked back for a second. Elle: Royd...Rest in peace...my friend... They ran out through the corrider. The cavern collapsed, while the corrider was slowly weakening. Elle: LET'S GO! They ran really quickly, and by the time they came out of the hole, the ENTIRE cave collapsed. *** Fyda woke from her short-lived coma. Fyda: ...what...ROYD! She looked toward Elle. Elle looked at Fyda, then shook her head. Fyda: Royd...oh Royd... Elle came to hug Fyda, as she cried on Elle's clothes. Elle: (I know how you feel, Fyda. Believe me...it really sucks... Ark...)
