"Eklemata Sorrow" (Ark and mountain goat)

While playing through Terranigma for the third time, I began thinking about some 
things I never realized about the game. A question came into my mind at this point of the game:
Did the mountain goat know who Ark was? Did she actually know in her heart that she was 
going to die, even though she preached about never giving up? 
What really made me wonder was her last words before Ark left the cave:

"Listen. On your journey, you will hit walls like this again. 
But you mustn't ever give up. You have to persevere. 
Now go. You must continue your journey."
