Ushi No Tane Harvest Moon News Issue 71 http://www.fogu.com/hm/ December 24, 2006 It's the GIANT HOLIDAY EDITION of the UNoT newsletter! "toot tooot too toooooot!!" A lot of new Harvest Moon things came out recently. First, we'll start out with... HARVEST MOON WII The official title of the game is "Bokujou Monogatari: Yasuragi No Ki". The word "yasuragi" translates to the feeling of peace/tranquility, so an English translation could be "Harvest Moon: Tree of Peace". Marvelous launched the official web site but so far there's only a few screen shots and a release date listed as undetermined. Harvest Moon: Tree of Peace Japanese web site http://www.bokumono.com/series/yasuragi/index.html The February edition of Nintendo Dream is out in Japan, which features an article on the Wii version of the farming game. The article starts out describing a sample day in the game. The clock in the upper-left corner of the screen has a visual sun/moon dial which rotates as the day progresses, so it is just a fancy version of the time that happens to be located right underneath the dial ;) You can grow flowers, purchase a Cow Bell to herd your animals with, and you can see the fish in the water (like in Animal Crossing). Nindori also introduced 5 new characters: Shira (Sheila), the sexy dancer Rukku (Luke), the hot-blooded carpenter Chihaya, a bar waitress Patto (Pat), inventor store's daughter Tao, a soothing fisherman Nintendo DREAM, page 62 http://www.fogu.com/hm/scans/061222_nindream_p62.jpg Nintendo DREAM, page 63 http://www.fogu.com/hm/scans/061222_nindream_p63.jpg HARVEST MOON: THE ISLAND GROWS WITH YOU In this section of the magazine, Nindori introduces a few of the festivals. The Snow Festival occurs in the Winter season, and Nindori hints at being able to make a snowman. During the Summer you'll see the Fireworks, and there's also a Cooking festival judged by Pierre (who seems to have his own fan-club growing within the English speaking community ^^ ) Two new characters are also introduced. There is a chubby priest named Roven, and Sister Ariel. The two of them move to your island to preach about the Goddess. The second page of the article talks about the basics of house upgrades (which we already know), and describes the Pet Barn that you can have Goran build. Once the Pet Barn is finished you can raise a horse. Your dog can live in the Pet Barn too! The unusual character Chen is indeed a peddler (like Van and Won). He sells various things like the Tool Box, Bookshelf, and Beauty Box used for storing accessories. He also buys from you and sells the 10,000 G and 1,000,000 G Tickets that exist in HMDS. Nintendo DREAM, page 72 http://www.fogu.com/hm/scans/061222_nindream_p72.jpg Nintendo DREAM, page 73 http://www.fogu.com/hm/scans/061222_nindream_p73.jpg Marvelous has finished filming their new television commercial to advertise the new DS game. The webmaster of the German fan site HMBauer.de found a copy of it on YouTube. The Japanese child actor Mirai Shinda is hanging out with hand puppets and singing a Harvest Moony version of "Yankie Doodle", complete with Japanese cow ("mo mo mo mo mo"), Japanese sheep ("me me me me me"), and Japanese dog ("wan wan wan wan wan") noises. It's pretty cute! Kimi to Sodatsu Shima TV Commercial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04FBKJwudFo Besides Nintendo DREAM, the children's magazine Shougaku San Nen Sei (3rd year elementary school) has it's own article about HM:Island. Unfortunately the article doesn't give any new information that we didn't already know! It's nice to look at though. Shougaku San Nen Sei, page 17 http://www.fogu.com/hm/scans/061222_sannensei_p17.jpg UNoT'S HOLIDAY GIFT TO YOU San Nen Sei magazine also published a 16-page Harvest Moon manga in preparation for the upcoming new DS game set for February. The comic is drawn by Igusa Matsuyama, the character designer for the series. I was able to pick up a copy of the manga the other day and it goes through the story of how the characters ended up on the abandoned island. "Cher, I want to see it but I can't read Japanese!!" Oh, no problem! I've sprinkled some Cow Miracle Potion on the pages and with the best of my ability, translated the manga into a scan-lation. If you know English then you can read the manga too! http://www.fogu.com/hm/scans/manga/index.php Have a festive year end and best farming wishes for 2007!
