Ushi No Tane Harvest Moon News Issue 66 http://www.fogu.com/hm/ August 10, 2006 Some new scans of the camera-phone shots we saw yesturday of the new HM games have started to float around online. Kyledove and TF found them before I even had awaken this morning! Harvest Moon Wii has a lot of new characters. There's Airy, Ose, Casey, Won (a girl doctor, not the traveling merchant), Gil, and Lena/Riina. Crops can be sowed in a 3x3 square like past HM games. I don't know the purpose of the little red tomato under the hero's portrait (perhaps power berry related), but Famitsu says it can be different colors like green, red, and so on. The article mainly covers the Wiimote's ability to interact with the tools. The story begins on a ship that set sail towards a new land. The ship hits a big storm while on it's journey and is destroyed, but a small lifeboat escaped with 5 people on board; yourself and a family of 4. - Tarou: the father, and elderly old fart who resembles the old fashion 'Jack' hero - Ferena: the mother, a red headed, bubbly, Lyla-like character - Eric and Natalie: brother and sister who look like Rick and Nami in a way The lifeboat landed on an unhabitated island, and now you and the 4 person family must live together in your new little world. The island has signs of being populated in the past but no one seems to be around anymore. As you develop your land on the island, new areas will be unlocked for you to explore and more people will appear on your island. You can interact with the new people and they'll even set up shops. Besides crops you can raise the standard cows, sheep, and chickens. Just like in HMDS, you can use the stylus and the touch screen to pet your animals. Marriage is available in the game, and at some point the opposite gender of the person you select to play as will appear on the island as well. You can also cook the crops you grow and even fish. The same weeds, Orange Herbs, cows, horned-sheep, and chickens appear in the screen shots from Famitsu. If you ever wanted a portable MM game, now there's one in development! Until next time! - Why did it take hours for the pig to cross the road? -- Because he was a slow-pork!
