The style isn't really new... it's kind of like Wind Bazaar meets Sugar Town. I'll have to reserve judgment on how I feel about the art so far, since I think the uniqueness and level of interest of the character's designs are more important than their dimensions.

Honestly it kind of bugs me how Kamil and Ash look like they are related (as far as I know they aren't), and also look similar to the main boy character, but we've only seen a fraction of the cast. I mean I guess if they all live in a tiny town, they all wear the same designer and go to the same hairdresser, but still... they all have medium-light toned hair that just barely grazes the shoulders. And all the same collared shirts. @_@

...and they all have long hair x)! I don't know why, but it feels kind of funny to see that they all have long hair. Is something wrong with short hair? It's not wrong that they all have long hair, but it's just funny too see.

It's still adorable.
I'm fine as long as it's Igusa Matsuyama-san's work.
so I'm not fond of the art in ToT,IL and RF that much

I agree the art still has flavors from the old. But I think it has enough difference from Sugar Town and the like.

To be honest I've never disliked any of the artstyles. But this is one of my top favorites next to the RF and Wind's Bazaar art.

I've never disliked any HM art; I thought I would on some of the super "chibi" ones but I ended up liking it after a while. But this art seems a really good balance to me.

I definitely like this better than the WB chibi art. I remember seeing that for the first time and thinking, "0_o."

I actually favor the art work here over any other HM art work. The characters just look really nice, and tall. =P

It's still cute but a bit more grown up, definitely digging it~

Hopefully more adult elements with the art, not just kawaiii desuu!1!!!!1111! dialogue.

Like, Whoah, « Puppy Doodoo »!
You're purdy sexy (As Muffy did in AWL)

Something more like STH, which in my mind is the most mature HM game so far.

But the chibi stuff was beginning to piss me off. This is a niiice turn.

Exactly what I was about to say. Honestly, the chibi style wasn't so bad when it was back in BTN. But like so many games later and they're still stuck to that style? Ugggh.

Thank goodness. Now to start studying this art style and learning it. <3

I'm going to go ahead and say that I'm not a big fan of the majoirty of Harvest Moon's new art style and I haven't been since Wind Bazaar came out. There is just something about it that really irks me... And even though these characters aren't chibi, I still find them really sugary/childish looking.

The in-game screens are lovely and I'm excited for everything else in the game, but I really dislike the character design so far.

Maybe I've just gotten too used to the art style in ToT and Animal Parade.

Oh man, I miss Muffy. Muffy and uhm, the funny dialogue about how the towns folk felt the archeologists were in a risque relationship. It would be nice to have some of that stuff back in the new games, but hey, I love the HMs anyway.

I never minded the chibi art styles except the nutso super chibi ones...

I miss Muffy and Celia! I hope they will appear in another game soon! I loved the sense of community in Wonderful Life, HM DS just was not a good enough sequel for their characters. Nami already had one appearance in Magical Melody, I hope the other characters will available for marriage in another town/game. A Mineral town like game would be a nice setting to bring them back in (I'm missing the HM. Mineral town game). :(

I don't care what other people say, Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, was one of the best Harvest Moon games!

I want my pig back...

But yeah, actually, other than this game, HMDS has one of my favorite art styles, which is funny because it's what most people are sick of. :D

Ugh, I hope not. We had the same cast of characters (except for a few changes here and there) appear in 64, BTN (their personalities and family structure had been changed for no real reason), FOMT, and DS and several of them made guest appearances in IoH, Sunshine, and TOT. The Forget-Me-Not Valley characters were in AWL and DS and Nami made a guest appearance in MM. Seriously, it is about time we got some new characters. The only time I ever want to see the Flowerbud/Mineral Town characters again outside of a "crossover" game like My Little Shop would be if they were to make a 64 for Girl (you have no idea how much I want to marry 64 Kai, I love him, but I can't stand his Mineral Town counterpart.) Don't get me wrong, I love Poppy and the rest as much as the next person (Popuri is probably still my favorite character way back from 64), but enough is enough!

I find the art similar to WB, and I LOVE it. I think the graphics are much nicer in the newer games.

Yeah. Tbh I didn't like ToT or those graphics much, so I was so worried about the "uncartoon" graphics at first, but now they seem quite nice!
