Having a Family
After you are married, you can expand your family by having a child. You can only have one child in Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar, and the child looks the same no matter which person you choose to marry.
Before you can trigger the pregnancy event, you need to buy a bigger bed. The larger bed will be for sale at the Flowing Furniture shop during the bazaar. The Bigger Bed will cost you 30,000 G. Besides the new bed, you'll need to keep your spouse's heart color at red (60,000 or higher FP).
Thirty days after you buy the bigger bed and on the first non-holiday, the pregnancy event will trigger when you awake in the morning. Claire will come to your house to diagnose the pregnancy. If you have married Emiko, she will personally tell you about the pregnancy and Claire won't be involved at all.
If you are playing as the girl character, you still need to take care of your farm and animals. The pregnancy won't affect your Stamina at all, and your husband still won't help you with the farm!
Childbirth
The pregnancy will last 62 days. On the day of your child's birth, Claire and Nellie will be at your house to assist with the birth. Emiko is, of course, too independent to have help with her childbirth. She will do the entire task herself and summon you back inside the farm house once the child is born.
The child's gender is set AT the birth event! For example, if you wanted to have a girl child but you received a boy instead, simply reload back to your last save to see the birth event again. You can keep doing this until the gender you want has been born.
After your child is born, it will be placed in the middle of your bed. It will stay in the bed and you can not interact with it.
Growing Up, Toddler Stage
You can celebrate your child's birthday if you enter your house after 8:00 pm. If it is your child's first birthday, you won't get a dinner party (since it is too young to eat). On every birthday after that you'll have a special dinner.
The child will stay in bed for 136 days; remember that a year in Grand Bazaar is 124 days long (31 days per season) whereas in past Harvest Moon games it was only 120 days (30 days per season).
Twelve days after your child's first birthday, your spouse will want to show you something when you awake in the morning. Your child is now out of bed and can walk around the house.
Now that it is out of bed, you can talk to your child and give him or her gifts. The child's gender does not matter when it comes to gift giving; both the boy and girl child like the same type of gifts. The child will like one set of gifts when it is a blue-suited toddler, and then different types of gifts once it grows older. In either stage of growth, the child will not accept "adult" gifts like wine, beer, or sake.
Your toddler will stay indoors most of the time. On sunny days, he or she will go out into your farmyard between 12:00 pm (noon) and 3:30 pm. If it is raining, the child stays indoors all day long.

Growing Up, Kid Stage
Your child will grow again one more time in exactly one year. Once 12 days go by after your child's second birthday, your child will appear in the morning at its final growth stage.
In either growth stage, the child doesn't help with your farm work. When it is full grown there are a few random events that you can see, but in general it is just there to take up space inside your house.
Your child won't participate in any of the festivals in Zephyr Town, but he or she will be there for birthdays, your wedding anniversary, Starry Night, and the Pumpkin Festival.
