The Lake Mine

When Winter arrives the lake on Mother's Hill freezes over. You can walk across the ice and go into the Lake Mine. You won't find any Ore in this mine but you will find a lot of pretty jewels! Don't forget to check behind the mine before you go in the entrance. There's a Power Berry hidden on it's backside.

This mine holds the "cursed" tools; super powerful items you can use to replace your existing farm equipment. The cursed tools won't appear in the mine until all of your existing tools are at the Mystrile level. Even then it's random whether or not you're going to find them! The different types of tools are hidden in the ground on specific floors of the mine. You'll have to dig around on that floor and hope you find one. If not, remember to save your game before going down into that floor so you can reload, go down the stairs, and start digging all over again.

When you find a cursed tool don't equip it unless you're ready!! The tools are aptly named and once equipped you can't remove it on your own. You'll need Carter's help and he can only do it when he's in his confession booth. If you pay him 1000 G he'll un equip the tool for you and put it back into your inventory. When you're ready to start un cursing the tools then you'll need his help anyway (see Tool Upgrades), but if you plan on continuing to explore the Lake Mine after finding a tool then don't wield it. The cursed tools are basically level 6-type tools and have more power then the Mystrile-based level 5 ones.

Besides finding the cursed tools you can find the Kappa Jewels. There are 9 jewels, each on a different floor of the mine. The green orbs are found randomly inside of a rock so if you don't find it on the floor you're looking on, reload the room from your saved game. You'll find Kappa Jewels on Floor 0, 40, 60, 80, 120, 140, 160, 180, and 255. Keep track of what floor you found a Kappa Jewel on, else you'll forget and search on a floor that you've already collected the ball on. When you complete the set of jewels, Kappa will appear and give you his Gem; an item that recharges your Fatigue if you have it equipped for an hour. Finding all 9 Jewels is also a requirement for marrying Kappa.

On the 9th floor of the mine you'll find a pond of water. In the pond is one of the Fish Kings, the Coelacanth. You can only catch him if you have blessed your cursed level 6 Fishing Rod and you have caught the other 5 Fish Kings. See the Fishing page for more information about the Kings.

If you are smashing rocks on the 50th floor you'll notice that no jewels will pop out. The only jewel you're going to find on that floor is an Alexandrite. The appearance of Alexandrite is completely random and you might not even find 1 piece of it. If it doesn't appear then just reload back to level 49 and try again. Floors 100, 150, 200, and 251+ also only have Alexandrite.
