01.14 Nintendo Direct | Posted at 02:41 PM 17 January 2015
This week Nintendo aired their latest Nintendo Direct presentation, which featured Story of Seasons for a few moments. The game has a general release window of March 2015 in North America, but it doesn't have an official date as of yet. Once XSeed Games has a set date I'm sure they'll announce it on their various social media outlets. The Nintendo Direct mentioned the game's theme is connecting with other lands and players, so it may be safe to assume that the wifi farm visitation system will be in place for the NA audience, but there was no mention if StreetPass will remain. The Direct also mentioned it was "exclusive to the Nintendo eShop", even though there will be a physical release with the little Angora Rabbit plushie pre-order bonus. So no worries there about it being digital only! The StreetPass feature in Story of Seasons isn't very much anyway; you basically just see other gamers' farmers walking around your town, and you can talk to him/her to see the player's farm statistics. Not having it in the North American version won't be a big loss, especially since farming StreetPasses happen so rarely. XSeed Games has also released a promotional trailer for the game. The background music is the winter season theme. Daikon has been translated to "Radish," and yams are "Sweet Potatoes."
As for Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley, the game has been out for about two months and players still haven't discovered all of the various crop mutations in the game. The missing crops are slowly being figured out though, so perhaps in a few more months we'll all have everything laid out. The game's first downloadable content (DLC) is expected to be out sometime this month, so keep an eye on Natsume's social media outlets for when they get a release schedule. Natsume is still promoting their Lost Valley fan art contest, and announced the available grand prize the other day: a giant plushie Chicken/Chick set, a chorded Cinch bag, and a Lost Valley plushie cow headphones. What? Cow headphones?! Yep, with horns and ears. You could look like a cow while jam'n to your tunes! Mooo! *edit* Here's a better picture of the plushie cow headphones. They're so furry! (BTW, the white lines on the box are the mini blinds behind the photographer, not part of the grand prize)
More information about the fan art contest can be found on the company's Facebook page. And here is Igusa Matsuyama's 4-col Nintendo DREAM comic for January 2015!

Until next time! - Cher yam, sweet potato, yam, sweet potato...
